Professional Experience
Mr. Meiering is a director in the Albuquerque office.
He has extensive trial experience in business and
personal injury tort litigation, with an emphasis
in defending cases involving health care, professional
negligence, malpractice, and wrongful death. Mr.
Meiering has been lead counsel on a number of appeals
interpreting the New Mexico Medical Malpractice Act
and the State Tort Claims Act.
Mr. Meiering has defended civil rights actions
brought throughout the state against various New
Mexico cities, counties, and state entities. In addition,
Mr. Meiering has successfully tried cases for
various New Mexico health care institutions including
hospitals in the private, state, and university sector.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Meiering was
Assistant U.S. Attorney for New Mexico during 1971-1976
and had primary responsibility for the defense of
civil claims under the Federal Tort Claims Act in
the District of New Mexico. From 1969-1971, he was
the law clerk for Judge Delmas Hill, U.S. Court of
Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
