Professional Experience

Ms. Matthews practices in the firm’s Santa Fe office. She is a member of the Business Department practicing in the areas of education law with an emphasis in charter schools as well as employment, mediation, and administrative and local government issues. Ms. Matthews represents clients in all areas of public school law, including special education, School Personnel Act, school financial compliance, charter school facilities issues and all matters related to charter drafting and defending from the application through revocation and the appeal process. She has also advised and represented Native American clients in school matters as well as on economic development projects.

Ms. Matthews has taught as an Adjunct Professor at Highlands University in the area of School Law, participates in statewide conferences for educators and provides training on issues relevant to public charter schools. She represents the statewide charter school membership organization and advises on legislative policy.
