Rodey Attorneys appointed to the Pro Se Civil Litigants Committee of the United States District Court

Aaron Viets and Christopher Wolpert have been appointed to the Pro Se Civil Litigants Committee of the United States District Court. The committee reviews cases brought by citizens not represented by counsel, to determine whether such cases should be referred to attorneys who may be willing to represent them.

Christopher Wolpert Elected to the Executive Committee of Planned Parenthood of New Mexico

Attorney Christopher M. Wolpert, was elected to serve on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of Planned Parenthood of New Mexico. We are proud of Chris' involvement in this organization and our firm's commitment to community service.

Rodey's Attorneys Participate in Albuquerque BBQ grill-off

Rodey attorneys Jack Brant, Wade Jackson and Margaret Romero participated with other Albuquerque businesses in a BBQ grill-off on September 21st. They took home a second place ribbon for their delicious marinated pork tenderloin and apples.

John Robb Receives National Award from the ABA

July, 2006

John D. Robb was honored by the American Bar Association on May 3rd, in Washington, D.C., with the presentation of an award for Distinguished Lawyer and Advocate for Low-Income Individuals and Families, for Life Demonstrated Commitment to “Equal Justice For All”. Mr. Robb served as one of the ABA’s main representatives in creating and implementing the National Legal Services Corporation. During this process, he testified on numerous occasions as an exert legal aid witness, and in support of the National Legal Services program before committees of the U.S. House and Senate. The ABA noted that without Robb’s efforts on behalf of what is now known as the Legal Services Corporation, the Corporation probably would not exist in its present form, today.

John Robb has practiced law with Rodey, Dickason, Sloan, Akin & Robb for 55 years, with a large portion of his time being spent on initiatives for legal aid.

The Legal Services Corporation is an organization that provides free legal services to those individuals who need legal assistance, but can’t afford to pay for it.

Leslie McCarthy Apodaca Elected to Serve on Board of
New Mexico Symphony Orchestra

Leslie McCarthy Apodaca was elected to the Board of Trustees of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra on July 23, 2006. Ms. Apodaca is a director and shareholder in the Rodey Law Firm and the leader of the firm’s Business Litigation practice group. Her practice focuses on complex litigation matters, including business disputes, class actions, antitrust, and computer software litigation.

The New Mexico Symphony Orchestra is a musical, cultural and educational resource for the entire state, enhancing the quality of life for all New Mexico citizens. Deeply committed to educational activities and to serving its multi-cultural environment, the New Mexico Symphony performs each year for an audience of more than 130,000 - over half of them attending free concerts.

Tracy Sprouls Selected Officer and Board Member of the Rotary Club

Tracy Sprouls has been selected to serve as Treasurer of the Albuquerque Rotary Club and to serve on the Board of Directors of both the Albuquerque Rotary Club and the Albuquerque Rotary Club Charitable Foundation. Mr. Sprouls is a partner with Rodey, Dickason, Sloan, Akin & Robb. He specializes in state and federal tax planning and controversies, estate planning, entity formation and corporate law.

The Rotary Club of Albuquerque is a meeting place for the exchange of ideas and experiences. It strives to make the world a better place to live and contributes greatly to the city and region. The Albuquerque Rotary Club Charitable Foundation enables Rotarians to support local charities and community projects.


Jeffrey Lowry To Serve as President
of Albuquerque Academy’s Alumni Council

Jeffrey L. Lowry, a 1987 graduate of the Albuquerque Academy, will serve as President of the Academy’s Alumni Council effective July 1, 2006. Mr. Lowry is a director and shareholder in the Rodey Law Firm. His practice focuses on employment and labor law.

The Albuquerque Academy was founded in 1955 with only 12 boys and two teachers. It is now home to over one thousand girls and boys, grades 6 through 12. The Academy is an independent, college-preparatory day school with a mission of academic excellence, inclusiveness, accessibility, and community outreach.

Sandra Beerle Elected Board Member of RCI

Sandra Beerle, an attorney with Rodey, Dickason, Sloan, Akin & Robb, has been elected to the Board of Directors of RCI, Inc. Ms. Beerle who practices in the Litigation Department, specializes in healthcare litigation. RCI, Inc. is a non-profit organization with a mission to empower children and adults with special needs to achieve their highest levels of self-sufficiency.

New Mexico Community Development Loan Fund
Elects Justin Horwitz

February, 2006

Rodey attorney Justin Horwitz, was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the New Mexico Community Development Loan Fund. Mr. Horwitz practices in the Business Department with an emphasis in public finance, mergers and acquisitions and corporate law. A frequent speaker on topics related to business law, he also represents companies and individuals in matters related to franchising.

The New Mexico Community Development Loan Fund is a private, non-profit organization that provides loans, training and technical assistance to business owners and non-profit organizations throughout the state and the entire Navajo Nation.
