Rodey Lawyers Nelson Franse, Scott Gordon, Bruce Hall, Ed Ricco and Andy Schultz have been selected for inclusion in the list of the Top 25 Lawyers in New Mexico by Southwest Super Lawyers-2014. Mr. Franse is a Director in Rodey’s Albuquerque office. He practices in the Litigation Department with a particular interest in professional malpractice defense, medical malpractice defense, product liability, personal injury defense, entertainment and sports law. He is the group leader of the Professional Liability section.
Mr. Gordon is a Director in the Albuquerque office. He is a board-certified specialist in Civil Trials and in Employment and Labor Law. Since 1986, Mr. Gordon has been the first chair trial attorney in numerous jury trials and bench trials including the trials of discrimination, wrongful termination, breach of contract and personal injury claims. He is certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy as a Civil Trial Advocate and is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. Mr. Gordon is an adjunct professor at the University of New Mexico School of Law where he teaches Pretrial Practice. He also serves on the faculty for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy.
Mr. Hall is a Director in the Albuquerque office. His professional experience includes complex litigation and appeals in many areas (products liability, commercial, employment, environmental and professional liability). He has tried jury and non-jury cases at all levels of state and federal courts in New Mexico. He has been lead appellate counsel in a number of cases which established the parameters of medical malpractice and products liability law in New Mexico and has presented oral argument in the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Hall has a substantial practice in alternative dispute resolution, both mediation and arbitration.
Mr. Ricco is a Director in the Albuquerque office. He is a New Mexico Board of Legal Specialization certified specialist in appellate practice and a fellow of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers. He concentrates his practice in appellate law. He has handled numerous appeals in the state and federal courts in a wide variety of legal areas, including civil rights, constitutional law, antitrust, commercial law, torts, administrative law, intellectual property, workers' compensation and other subjects. Mr. Ricco's practice also includes complex litigation at the trial court level. In addition, he practices in health law, where his work primarily involves the representation of hospitals and other institutional health care providers.
Mr. Schultz is a Director in the Albuquerque office. He practices in the Litigation Department and serves as head of the firm’s Complex and Commercial Litigation practice group. Mr. Schultz has a special interest in class action and civil rights litigation, along with other complex procedural and appellate work. He has significant litigation and appellate experience in both federal and state courts.

Rodey Law Firm Elects New Directors
Glenn A. Beard, Margot A. Heflick and Krystle A. Thomas were elected to the Board of Directors of the Rodey Law Firm on January 22, 2014.
Mr. Beard practices in the Litigation Department, where he is a member of the professional liability practice group. His practice focuses on the defense of hospitals, physicians and other health care providers in medical malpractice actions. Mr. Beard also has extensive experience representing employers in all aspects of labor and employment law, and is certified by the New Mexico Board of Legal Specialization as a specialist in Employment and Labor Law.
Ms. Heflick practices in the Litigation Department with an emphasis on products and general liability litigation. She represents clients in the areas of tort and personal injury claims, medical malpractice and other areas of civil litigation. Ms. Heflick has represented clients in both state and federal courts.
Ms. Thomas practices in the Litigation Department with an emphasis in employment law. Ms. Thomas also practices in the area of professional liability. She has defended clients in both jury and non-jury trials in State and Federal Court, in addition to administrative tribunals. Rodey Lawyer Elected to Board of University of New Mexico School of Law Alumni Association
Matthew M. Beck has been elected to the Board of Directors of the University of New Mexico School of Law Alumni Association. Mr. Beck is an associate in Rodey’s Albuquerque office. He practices in the Litigation Department, primarily with the Complex and Commercial Litigation and the Employment and Labor Law practice groups. Before joining Rodey, Mr. Beck served as law clerk to the Honorable James O. Browning, United States District Court for the District of New Mexico. Mr. Beck received his J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2012, graduating magna cum laude.

John (Jack) P. Burton has been appointed to the National Drafting Committee on a Model Tribal Probate Code by Harriet Lansing, the President of the Uniform Law Commission. Denise M. Chanez has been elected President of the New Mexico Hispanic Bar Association. Ms. Chanez is an associate at the Rodey Law Firm.
