New Mexico Women’s Bar Association
Cristina A. Adams has been elected to the Board of Directors of the New Mexico Women’s Bar Association. Ms. Adams term will begin on January 1, 2016. Ms. Adams is an attorney with the Rodey Law Firm where she focuses her practice in the areas of labor and employment law, general civil litigation and medical malpractice defense.

Board of Ethics and Campaign Practices
Andrew G. Schultz was elected President of the Board of Ethics and Campaign Practices of the City of Albuquerque. Mr. Schultz is a Director at the Rodey Law Firm where he serves as head of the firm’s Complex and Commercial Litigation practice group. Mr. Schultz has a special interest in class action and civil rights litigation, along with other complex procedural and appellate work.
The Board of Ethics and Campaign Practices works in conjunction with the Office of the City Clerk in elections oversight to ensure compliance with election related laws, including the Election Code and the Open and Ethical Elections Code. The Board aids in assuring that government decisions and policies are made in the best interest of the people, the community and the City’s government.
New Attorney Joins Rodey Law Firm
Abigail M. Yates has joined the Rodey Law Firm. Ms. Yates is an associate in the Albuquerque office. She practices in the Litigation Department, primarily with the Complex and Commercial Litigation and the Products and General Liability practice groups.
During law school, Ms. Yates served as Manuscript Editor for the New Mexico Law Review. Upon graduation, Ms. Yates received a Dean’s Award for Significant Contribution to the Law School Community.
Ms. Yates received her law degree from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2015, graduating magna cum laude.

Robert L. Lucero, Jr. became President of the Board of Directors of the University of New Mexico School of Law Alumni/ae Association on July 1, 2015. Mr. Lucero has served on the Board since October 2011. Mr. Lucero is a Director at the Rodey Law Firm where he practices in the Business Department with an emphasis on real estate, land use and finance law. Matthew M. Beck has been elected to the Board of Directors of Opera Southwest. Mr. Beck is an associate with the Rodey Law Firm. His practice focuses primarily on business law and commercial litigation.

John P. (Jack) Burton has been appointed by the Uniform Law Commission (ULC) as a member of the Drafting Committee on Amendments to the Model Tribal Secured Transactions Act.
He is also a member of the ULC’s Drafting Committee on the Model Tribal Probate Code and its Committee on Liaison with American Indian Tribes and Nations.

Justin A. Horwitz has been elected to the Board of Directors of Albuquerque Economic Development (AED). Mr. Horwitz is a Director in the Rodey Law Firm and the Chairman of Rodey’s Business Department. He has substantial experience with a variety of economic development initiatives including industrial revenue bonds, public improvement district bonds and tax increment for development bonds, and transactions involving the local economic development act. Mr. Horwitz also serves as counsel on public finance matters and has experience in the issuance of a variety of governmental obligations.

John (Jack) P. Burton has been appointed as a member of the newly formed Probate Court Rules Committee of the Supreme Court of New Mexico.

The Probate Court Rules Committee is charged with developing and recommending new procedural rules for use in probate courts and for reviewing and recommending amendments to, the existing probate court forms.

Scott D. Gordon has become a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America. Mr. Gordon is a Director at the Rodey Law Firm and former Chair of the Litigation Department. He is a board-certified specialist in Civil Trials and in Employment and Labor Law. Since 1986, Mr. Gordon has been first chair trial attorney in numerous trials including trials of discrimination, wrongful termination, breach of contract and personal injury claims. He is certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy as a Civil Trial Advocate and is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He has served as an adjunct professor at the University of New Mexico School of Law and is on the faculty for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy.
The Litigation Counsel of America is an invitation-only trial lawyer honorary society. Membership is limited to 3,500 Fellows, representing less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers. The purpose of the LCA is to recognize deserving, experienced, and highly qualified lawyers. Rodey Lawyer Appointed to Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Panel
Brenda M. Saiz has been appointed to serve a three-year term as a member of the Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Panel of the United States District Court for New Mexico.
Ms. Saiz is a Director in the Albuquerque office of the Rodey Law Firm. She practices in the Litigation Department with an emphasis on trucking law and professional liability. Her areas of practice also include product liability, wrongful death, and insurance defense litigation, including bad faith.

Edward Ricco, an attorney with the Rodey Law Firm, was presented the University of New Mexico School of Law Distinguished Achievement Award on Friday, October 24th at UNM Law School’s Distinguished Achievement Awards Dinner. Award recipients were selected for their substantial contributions to the UNM School of Law, their distinguished careers and their service to the legal community and the state of New Mexico.
