Andrea Lavelle is an associate attorney in the Business Department at Rodey Law Firm. She brings hands-on experience from her previous practice at a large firm and her former career as an educator.
Before joining Rodey, Andrea practiced in the tax group of a large, international law firm in San Diego, where she helped advise on tax matters related to mergers and acquisitions, financings, renewable energy transactions, and REITs. In addition to her tax practice, Andrea engaged in a significant amount of pro bono work, including criminal records expungement petitions and assessments of wrongful conviction claims. She also served on the firm’s AI Working Group, liaising between attorneys and non-attorneys to assist with effective and responsible implementation of AI tools into attorney workflows.
During law school, Andrea gained practical tax law experience externing within the tax planning department of an international medical device company. She also participated in a California state income tax clinic, externed at a local estate planning firm, and served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Cynthia Bashant in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.
Before law school, Andrea was an educator in New Mexico, where she primarily taught all core high school subjects in nonprofit and school programs serving out-of-school and otherwise disadvantaged youth.
