Kara Murphy is an Director in Rodey’s Albuquerque office with the Litigation Department. Her practice focuses on complex and commercial litigation, products liability, and tax litigation. Ms. Murphy has also worked at the appellate level on a number of matters, including through post-trial motion practice and appellate briefs.
Ms. Murphy is a graduate of Northwestern University and Northwestern School of Law. Before law school, Ms. Murphy worked at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington D.C. After graduating from law school, Ms. Murphy was a litigator at a law firm in Chicago for four years. There she represented clients in commercial litigation, internal investigations, and compliance matters. Starting in 2016, Ms. Murphy served as a law clerk to a federal judge in the United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois for seven years. In that role, she managed a large case docket, helped to prepare the Judge for bench trials, jury trials, and a variety of proceedings, and drafted hundreds of judicial opinions.
These experiences in both private practice and in the federal court inform Ms. Murphy’s practice at Rodey. With this experience and perspective, Ms. Murphy strives to help clients find workable solutions and achieve favorable outcomes.
